As part of the rehabilitation of Carling Avenue, Kirkwood Avenue northbound between Carling Avenue eastbound and Carling Avenue westbound (under the 417) will be closed to facilitate the installation of the large diameter watermain, new hydro ducts, as well as local sanitary and storm sewers.
The expected duration of the closure is from Monday September 19th at 9 a.m. until the end of October, 2011.
The following roadways are impacted:
- Kirkwood Avenue northbound – Closed to all traffic.
- Kirkwood Avenue southbound – Reduced to one lane.
- Left turns from Kirkwood Avenue to Carling Avenue eastbound – Maintained.
Please note that:
- Detour routes will be posted and will include a temporary roadway from Carling Avenue eastbound to Carling Avenue westbound at Archibald Street.
- Cyclists and pedestrians will have access through the construction zone.
- The closure will not impact any of the OC Tranpso routes through the intersection.
- Police will direct traffic through the construction zone.
Through traffic is not allowed on Meath Street or Archibald Street from Carling Avenue to Thames Street.
The Carling Avenue/Kirkwood Avenue intersection will remain open to traffic for the duration of construction. However, delays should be expected. Please use alternate routes.
