Update – Carling Avenue & Merivale Road Construction Project
Installation of a large-diameter watermain on Carling Avenue, west of Kirkwood Avenue, began on Monday, August 8, 2011. Due to the size of the watermain, the contractor will utilize the entire right of way throughout this phase of construction.
To minimize the impact of construction, the contractor will maintain two lanes of traffic in each direction on Carling Avenue in peak hours. However, traffic may be temporarily reduced to one lane in each direction during non-peak hours. In addition, the contractor will continue to maintain access for all local businesses and malls along Carling Avenue to ensure that residents can continue to shop locally. Through lanes and turning lanes at the Carling Avenue and Kirkwood Avenue intersection will also be maintained.
To facilitate the installation of the watermain west of Kirkwood Avenue, traffic patterns will change three times over the course of the next month. Please use extra caution and be watchful of the barrels and signals as you approach Kirkwood Avenue.
Traffic remains limited to Local Traffic Only for the duration of construction on the following streets:
· Coldrey Avenue
· Laperriere Avenue
· Leaside Avenue
· Thames Street
· Viscount Avenue
